Developed by Belluna Co. Ltd, Japan and Asia Capital PLC, Sri Lanka, the Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort’s interiors take a page from the ocean with Milan-based architects PEIA Associati putting forth a sustainable approach.
Designers use natural materials in the interiors, such as shells placed to show movement of marine life like sea turtles and whale sharks. Meanwhile, an aerial view of the resort shows an outline shaped like a fish to pay homage to the property’s surrounding marine life. The arrival jetty resembles clamshells and ocean waves. Each of the resort’s 70 villas and suites is framed with eco-friendly roofing for natural ventilation.
The resort offers three dining outlets that nod to the brand’s “Eat Well” mantra: The Pearl, Island Kitchen and Hawker. The Sunset Bar rounds out the food and beverage experience, serving tapas and cocktails in a relaxed lounge setting. The property also has a spa, a 24-hour fitness center, the Westin Family Kids Club and a boutique store.
