W Hotels Worldwide has made its debut in Las Vegas. The latest W is housed in a 289-key tower of the SLS Las Vegas complex that has been redeveloped on the north end of the Strip. Gensler and AvroKO Hospitality Group teamed on the property’s design, and its 289 guest rooms were created by famed French designer Philippe Starck in collaboration with Gensler. PENTA Building Group was the project’s builder.
Like the lifestyle brand’s other properties, the hotel features W’s signature Living Room lobby lounge. The Living Room bar was inspired by casino gaming tables, while seating nooks recall the hotel’s original mid-century incarnation as the Sahara. A neon artwork, “desert garden” by artist Keith Lemley, is showcased behind the bar.
In addition to the Starck-designed guest rooms, the hotel’s accommodations include a 2,382-sq.-ft. Extreme WOW Suite designed by celebrity artist/musician Lenny Kravitz at the top of the tower.
The rooftop WET Deck features private cabanas and a destination bar and overlooks the Stratosphere and desert mountains. The space is decked out with art from local and international muralists and photographers.
On the second floor, the AWAY Spa is decorated with a white palette and elements such as large faux-peal key rings, lockers with bright pink interiors and hand sculptures. Three floors of the property are home to 15,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space. A FIT 24-hour fitness center is also on tap.
Designed as a hotel-within-a-hotel experience, W Las Vegas also provides guests access to the seven F&B concepts and three nightlight venues throughout the SLS property.
“If there are two things in this world that were truly made for each other, it’s W Hotels and Las Vegas,” says Anthony Ingham, global brand leader, W Hotels Worldwide, now a Marriott Intl. brand. “After nearly two decades of anticipation, W Las Vegas will show guests a different side of the strip, offering an unexpected and irreverent twist on the typical Sin City experience.”
