Virgin Hotels, the lifestyle brand by Richard Branson’s Virgin Group, has unveiled plans to open its first locale in Washington D.C., in 2019. The newbuild hotel’s backers include D.B. Lee Development & Construction and Brook Rose Development. (Information on the project’s architect and design team was not immediately available.)
Virgin Hotels Washington D.C Union Market will include 178 guest rooms and grand chamber suites. It will also feature multiple F&B outlets, including the brand’s signature Commons Club, a coffee shop, and a rooftop lounge with an infinity pool. Honoring the artistic history of the Union Market area, the hotel plans to implement an artists-in-residence program. The property will also house art studios on its second floor and alley way and feature an outdoor garden with sculptures by local artists.

Virgin Hotels has opened its first location in Chicago, with properties in San Francisco, Dallas, Palm Springs, Silicon Valley, New York, New Orleans and Nashville in its development pipeline.
