Olga Polizzi, director of design, Rocco Forte Hotels, designed four new suites at the hotelier’s Villa Kennedy property in Frankfurt. Each suite’s design is inspired by the iconic figure from the 1960s it’s named after: Jackie O, Audrey Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn Monroe.

“I was inspired by the glamour of the 60s and the icons who helped shape history. JFK, Jackie O, Audrey Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn Monroe all contributed their own signature style to the decade and each of their individual identities are established in the design of the suites through subtle details using their imagery and characteristics throughout,” says Polizzi.

Polizzi used John F. Kennedy’s 1963 visit to Frankfurt, where the hotel is based, as a jumping off point for the interiors. She found local pieces from German artisans to help give each suite a sense of place, which is an essential part of Rocco Forte’s design ethos.

The suites showcase custom wallpaper by British textile designers Christopher Farr and offer sitting rooms clad in floors with wood made from the Bavarian forest. Bespoke bookcases by local artisan Lenz become focal points for the spaces. Textile manufacturer Zimmer + Rhode provided upholstered fabrics and high armchairs for the rooms. Floor-to-ceiling windows are decorated by curtains from JAB ANSTOETZ. The Rug Company provides custom gray and white hounds tooth rugs that pay homage to 1960s design choices.
