The development scene in Miami’s South Beach continues to heat up with plans for a new Thompson Hotel. Two Roads Hospitality announced that it will bring the brand back to the Florida destination with the opening of the newbuild lifestyle property in 2020.
Thompson South Beach’s undulating exterior has been conceptualized by French architect Rudy Ricciotti, who says he’s designing the hotel to complement the surrounding landscape of SoundScape Park.
Developed and owned by Miami-based Finvarb Group, the hotel will be home to 150 guestrooms with floor-to-ceiling windows. A rooftop pool, restaurant and bar are also in the plans.
“Positioned within South Beach’s flourishing cultural epicenter overlooking the urban oasis of SoundScape Park, Thompson Hotels is primed for reintroduction into the Miami market,” says Jamie Sabatier, ceo of Englewood, Colorado-based Two Roads Hospitality.
The hotel will occupy a central location on the southeast corner of 17th Street and Washington Avenue, adjacent to the Frank Gehry-designed New World Center and newly renovated and expanded Miami Beach Convention Center.
“We’re excited to pair the Thompson Hotels brand, which aligns so well with the vibrancy of South Beach, with the iconic design of the building and the central location of the site,” says Ronny Finvarb, principal of Finvarb Group. “The combination of those factors, plus the food and beverage programming we’re considering, will add to the dynamism and character of this great city.”
