Work has started on Thompson San Antonio, a 162-room lifestyle hotel in that city’s River Walk mixed-use development. Located in the Art District on the north side of the city’s downtown, the $116 million project is slated to open in 2019.
The hotel’s backers are DC Partners, a Houston-based developer, and San Antonio-based Universal Service Group. Houston-based Powers Brown Architecture and Guadalajara-based Amass & G (whose work includes Thompson Hotels’ The Cape in Cabo San Lucas) will spearhead the property’s design, in collaboration with Two Roads Hospitality, the Thompson flag’s parent company.
The 20-story property will also feature 58 condominium units, a spa and fitness center, an outdoor pool and a 3,600-sq.-ft. ballroom for meetings and events. F&B offerings will include a rooftop bar and a street-level signature restaurant.
Other Thompson lifestyle hotels include The Beekman, Gild Hall and Smyth in New York; Thompson Nashville; Thompson Seattle; Thompson Chicago; Thompson Toronto; The Cape in Los Cabos, Mexico; and Thompson Playa del Carmen in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Upcoming openings include Thompson Hollywood and two other new properties in Texas: Thompson Dallas at The Drever and Thompson Houston.
