On the heels of AccorHotels’ acquisition of a 50% stake in sbe, the company announces its 12th resort and fourth SLS-branded property in South Florida.
The SLS Resort Residence & Marina Hallandale Beach, developed in partnership with PPG Development and its principal Ari Pearl, is set to open in 2022 and will take over the site of the former Diplomat Golf & Tennis Club with additional new construction. The resort will comprise 290 hotel rooms including 50 condo/hotel units. Also included are 250 branded apartments, the Katsuya and S Bar food and beverage concepts, a mixology lounge and a three-meal restaurant.
The original property at the site opened in 1958, and was the only hotel between Miami and Fort Lauderdale during its heyday. sbe will invest $220 million into the resort, which will also include an 18-hole championship golf course designed by pro-golfer Greg Norman, a 10-court tennis complex and a 48-slip Marina.
The SLS in Hallandale Beach will be the seventh overall property for the brand, and there are 25 more in the pipeline. sbe’s residential platform has sold 1,300 branded units to date valued at $2 billion, with an additional $1.8 billion in the pipeline.
