Silversea’s Silver Spirit cruise ship will soon undergo an ambitious lengthening project that will feature the addition of a new mid-ship hull section containing 34 new luxury suites and a Balsorano suite. The vessel will enter dry dock at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo, Italy, for that work on March 5, and remain there until May 1.
Silver Spirit’s refurbishment will include the insertion of a prebuilt, 49-ft.-long segment into the ship’s midsection, making her the first luxury ship to be lengthened in this manner. Project participants say the renovation is inspired by the cruise line’s new flagship vessel, Silver Muse, which was profiled in the November edition of Boutique Design.
“Based on the feedback from guests sailing aboard our Silver Muse, we believe the comprehensive makeover we have planned for Silver Spirit will enrich the onboard experience and be equally appreciated by guests,” says Christian Sauleau, executive vice president of fleet operations for the line. “They will see many of Silver Muse‘s innovations and elevated comforts embodied by our re imagined Silver Spirit.”
In addition to the added berths, the ship’s on-board dining options will expand to include Atlantide, Indochine, Spaccanapoli and Silver Note. These new venues will join the existing Seishin, La Dame, The Grill, and La Terrazza, which will all be refreshed during the refurbishment. New public spaces will include the Arts Café, Dolce Vita and the Zagara spa.
