Australia’s QT Hotels & Resorts has unveiled plans for its second locale in New Zealand, the 69-key QT Queenstown. Slated to open Dec. 1, the lakeside hotel’s interiors were created by a team that was spearheaded by longtime QT collaborator Nic Graham and also included Anna Roberts, Janet Hine and Fabio Ongarato.

Project participants say the hotel’s design was inspired by such local natural landmarks as Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables mountain range, and features an understated alpine narrative through most of its spaces.
The hotel’s signature restaurant, Bazaar Interactive Marketplace, opened in March on the building’s sixth floor and features exposed surfaces, a herringbone-patterned floor and leather strap details. Also on this level is the Reds Bar.

QT’s first hotel in New Zealand, the 160-key QT Museum Wellington, was featured in The Buzz section of Boutique Design’s March 2017 issue. The Queenstown hotel will be the brand’s ninth location overall.
