Boutique Design Events and Trade Fairs

The adults-only, private enclave Aquí Me Quedo at the Rosewood Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, has made its debut on the Caribbean waterfront. Part of a $2.5 million investment in the property, the development includes open air living and dining rooms; three infinity edge pools that are sunken in the sand; La Cocina, an open kitchen concept; and La Palapa, a 2,200-sq.-ft. indoor/outdoor beachfront structure for hosting private events.

Named for the feeling “Here I Stay,” the new development was designed by Zurcher Architects to showcase Mexican elements, taking a modern approach to old traditions created by local artisans, including handmade clay pieces from Colectivo 1050, based in Oaxaca; and lava rock from Ayres, based in the Yucatan.

The three infinity edge pools offer exclusive amenities that rotate seasonally, such as poolside spa treatments. La Palapa also acts as a fitness pavilion with morning spin and yoga classes. La Sala and La Terraza, residential-style living rooms that overlook the waterfront, round out Aquí Me Quedo’s offerings.
