Knoxville businessman and Boyd Hollow Resorts ceo Tom Boyd has unveiled plans to open a newbuild 40-acre resort with more than 150 unique dwellings and treehouses. The $40 million project is expected to debut in South Knoxville, Tennessee, by 2020.

Ancient Lore Village at Boyd Hollow is based on a book Boyd wrote called “The Bobbins – Outcast to the Inner Earth.” The themed resort features 100 homes designed to look like the various dwellings described in the book. Architect Daniel Levy is acknowledged in the book as consulting with Boyd on the homes’ designs, and his firm DKLEVY will lead design of the resort. Homes include grass roofs, decorative exteriors and fully furnished interiors reminiscent of a fantasy world.

The resort will also showcase 50 treehouses, including one, two and three-bedroom units with balconies overlooking the village in the valley. Luxury units called “Bobbin Homes” comprise five bedrooms and feature balconies with views of the entire property.

The development will also be home to a 150-seat restaurant, a 500-person meeting and event center and a 1,000-seat outdoor amphitheater. Miles of walking trails throughout the property will connect the homes and event areas. The village is designed around a central valley with a “magic tree” and sheep pasture. All roads and paths will be designed to blend with the surroundings and the resort’s theme.
