The Passionality Group will launch Phileas Club, a collection of independent lodging offerings in emerging neighborhoods and destinations in 2019.
The collection is inspired by the character Phileas Fogg in Jules Verne’s 1873 novel “Around the World in 80 Days,” and it will be geared toward travelers who want to connect and socialize with locals while discovering emerging neighborhoods around the world. Offerings in the brand will treat guests to on-property and neighborhood experiences, such as a bar, premium coffee or a complimentary book exchange. Room types will range from private to bunk beds in shared rooms.
The Phileas Club will also donate part of its direct booking proceeds to the charity of each guest’s choice. Additionally, each Phileas Club team will conduct outreach in the local community in its own way. The collection will have a loyalty program called The Passepartout Pass.
Hostel Fish in Denver’s RiNo neighborhood is the collection’s first member location and will re-launch mid-to-late next year. The hostel features a full-service community bar, communal kitchen and 64 beds spanning between private and shared accommodations. Additional projects are already under development in emerging neighborhoods across Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami.
To ensure an authentic experience, Passionality is working to form a strategic alliance with 213 Hospitality, which has more than 25 neighborhood bar and brewpub establishments across Los Angeles, San Diego, Austin and soon Denver. 213 Hospitality would be responsible for bar and brewpub operations of select future locations. Passionality will also deploy its other portfolio brands at locations where appropriate, such as Vagabond Coffee, Nighthawk Breakfast Bar and 18I89 Stockholm.
