Two Roads Hospitality has named Craig Waterman vice president of openings and transitions. In this role, Waterman will oversee new and transitioning projects across the company’s portfolio, including serving as managing director of the El San Juan Hotel in Puerto Rico as it undergoes a restoration and renovation in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

The resort, located in Isla Verde, is slated to reopen October 1. Managed and operated by Two Roads, El San Juan Hotel is part of Curio Collection by Hilton.

Waterman joined Two Roads in 2014 as general manager of Hotel Kabuki, a Joie de Vivre property in San Francisco, and regional director of operations, overseeing the Northern California, Arizona and Hawaii regions. Prior to that, Waterman served as the transitions and acquisitions leader for Gemstone Resorts. Throughout his 30 years in the hospitality industry, Waterman has also worked with such luxury properties and brands as The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co., St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Arizona, Sé San Diego Hotel and the Shore Club in Miami Beach, Florida.

“Craig has contributed to the success of many Two Roads Hospitality properties, ensuring operational excellence, guiding seamless transitions and managing expansive renovation projects,” says Jorge Treviño, executive vice president of brand operations for Two Roads Hospitality. “His most recent oversight of Hotel Kabuki’s impressive $31 million refurbishment is a testament to his management skills, positioning him well to transition into this new role.”
