PANORAMA Design Group recently completed the MeeHotel in Shenzhen, China, for client PuroMe Hotel.
This urban resort is in a location referred to as the “Bamboo Forest,” and that’s where the design team drew its inspiration. Starting from the lobby, bamboo is the key material. Various onsite tests with a traditional bamboo weaver were done to create full-height screens that help to define the reception and lobby lounge areas.
The bamboo and rattan applied on all guestroom headboards are in the same pattern as those in the lobby but with different widths and thickness. Floated by concealed lights, it aims to provide guests a peaceful environment. On the top floor Sky Café, a zen, church-like space was constructed via a full-height bamboo structure. A skylight above allows natural light to fall in the middle of the seating area during daytime, while ceiling-suspended circular LED lights form glowing moons.
