Boutique Design Events and Trade Fairs

The Opposite House in Beijing will unveil an extensive renovation with the official grand reopening taking place in September. The revamp will include brand new and redesigned spaces, spanning from a reimagined lobby/reception area by Kengo Kuma (who also designed the stadium for the Tokyo Olympics next year); two completely new restaurants, Frasca (an Italian eatery that will utilize local Chinese ingredients) and Superfly (a take on China’s “fly restaurant” concept serving Sichuan cuisine); new bar and lounge, UNION; three new art gallery event spaces for the hotel’s rotating art exhibitions and events; hotel room updates; and more.

Superfly is designed by New York-based design firm AvroKO. Featuring a retro and eclectic vibe, taking elements from Chinese pop culture as well as western influences, it will be led by Michelin-starred Chef Li Dong. UNION (shown), also designed by AvroKO, features modern and whimsical touches inspired by the feel of an artist’s studio, and is complete with a special spice wall and a cocktail menu inspired by the ancient Silk Road.
