Construction is underway for the The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad in Manhattan, which broke ground in September. The hotel’s architecture is being designed by Rafael Viñoly, while Yabu Pushelberg is leading the interior design. Marriott Intl. and luxury development firm Flag Luxury Group are behind the $500 million project.

Renderings from Rafael Viñoly Architects show that the building will be set back from the street by way of a plaza, and the structure will rise as a slab tower. Several outdoor spaces will be accessible throughout the building. Rows of planters will be positioned below massive glass windows (pictured).

Excavation for the 40-story building is nearing completion, and rebar from the foundation walls is already underway, according to industry reports. The 580-ft.-tall hotel is set to bring 250 rooms and 16 branded residences to market when it opens in 2021.
