W Hotels Sets Italian Debut
W Rome to span two 19th century buildings
W Hotels is headed to Rome. The Marriott lifestyle brand’s first Italian locale will be housed in two adjacent 19th century buildings in Rome’s historic Via Veneto neighborhood.
The properties were originally intended for residential use, but also previously functioned as a hotel and as an office space. A development of Omnam Group through a real estate fund managed by Kryalos SGR, the project is slated for completion in 2021.
The hotel will feature 159 guest rooms, including the Extreme WOW suite, the brand’s take on the traditional presidential suite, along with a rooftop bar, the W Living Room (its spin on the hotel lobby), two restaurants, event space, a FIT workout facility and a spa. (Details on the design team behind the project were not immediately available.)
“This collaboration reflects our ambitions for this distinctive landmark development, and we could not imagine a better or more qualified operator than Marriott International and its phenomenal W Hotels brand,” says David Zisser, founder and ceo of Omnam Group. “The combination of the central location and beauty of this historic building, together with the distinct personality and cutting-edge style of the brand, presents a prime opportunity to provide a new luxury hotel experience in Rome.”
W Hotels has more than 50 properties worldwide, with forthcoming projects set for Tel Aviv, Madrid, Belgrade, Portugal’s Algarve coast, Prague, Budapest, Marbella and Edinburgh.
