Evelyn Gets a Makeover

Parts and Labor Design refreshes lobby and dining spaces

Triumph Hotels has taken the wraps off a multimillion-dollar renovation of the lobby and guestrooms at its historic Evelyn Hotel in New York’s NoMad neighborhood. The facelift also adds three new dining experiences from Chef Jonathan Benno.

Locally based Parts and Labor Design created the lobby’s art deco theme, featuring an all-day lounge with soft and bold velvet furniture highlighted by dimly lit nooks. A 40-ft. monolithic stained-glass wall sculpture anchors the area.

Silvia Zofio reimagined the 159 guestrooms to pay homage to the Art Nouveau style of the early 1900s. Rooms are clad with Frette linens and new lighting. Design accents, such as gramophones that connect to smartphones and chandeliers mimicking the shape of a trombone, round out the aesthetic and nod to the hotel’s musical past.

Parts and Labor Design also handled the design of the new dining spaces, which include: Leonelli Taberna, a casual Roman-inspired trattoria with a cocktail bar and lobby lounge; Leonelli Focacceria e Pasticceria, a bakery and café inspired by the bakeries of Rome; and Benno, a fine-dining restaurant. Those venues are defined by materials such as dark woods, green and white marble, brass and richly-toned stained glass that are reflected in geometric lines and patterns throughout each space. Leonelli Focacceria e Pasticceria has a mezzanine-level library overlooking the bakery.
