Mixed-Use Planned for the Bahamas
Studio Hillier-designed development includes 5-star hotel, branded residences
Architectural firm Studio Hillier is collaborating with developer Star Resort Group Inc. and owner P.S.G. Ltd. on plans for Port St. George, the first eco-engineered luxury waterfront destination for the Bahamas. The mixed-use development will span a total 882 acres and include a 5-star hotel, spa, 515 residences, a 640-berth marina, commercial area, a beach club, a lighthouse, eateries and sports facilities.
Designers are taking an environmentally sustainable approach to the project. An organic hydroponics farm will provide fruits and vegetables in order to reduce imports. Rainwater will be collected, and a solar-powered, reverse-osmosis desalinization plant will convert seawater into fresh, drinkable water for the development.
The hotel will serve as the heart of the development, positioned on a peninsula overlooking the Exuma Sound. It will feature a spa, dining options, private villas and branded residences. Sporting facilities will include an 18-hole golf course, six tennis courts, water sports, a swimming complex and athletic fields.
