Presidio To Get Another Hotel
Former barracks in national park being converted to lodge
The Presidio Trust announced plans to open its second hotel, the Lodge at the Presidio, in summer 2018. Designed by Architectural Resources Group and Laura Cook Interiors, the hotel will be located in a former barracks in Presidio national park, a 1,500-acre section of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in San Francisco.
The 42-key Lodge at the Presidio will be housed in the historic Montgomery Street Barracks, which was built by the U.S. Army in the 1890s. Project participants say the three-story lodge’s interior art and design elements will “bring the outdoors in” with artisan details and memorabilia that reflect the surroundings. Common areas will include a courtyard garden with fire pit, front porches with rocking chairs, a lobby reception area and a dining room lounge. The adaptive reuse project aims to achieve LEED certification.

“The new lodge at the Presidio is a great reason for visitors to come back to San Francisco, and for first-time visitors to vacation here,” said Jean Fraser, ceo of the Presidio Trust. “Where else can you stay in a national park with extensive walking and biking trails while also being minutes from the amazing restaurants, nightlife and museums of a major city like San Francisco?”
The trust opened its first hotel in the park, the Inn at the Presidio, in 2012. That LEED-certified sister property primarily features two-room suites with fireplaces.
