Hotel Zags Opens in Portland
Property joins Pebblebrook’s Unofficial Z Collection
Owner Pebblebrook Hotel Trust has opened The Hotel Zags Portland, adding to the real estate investment trust’s “Unofficial Z Collection,” according to Jon Bortz, chairman, president and ceo. The 174-room hotel is managed by Sage Hospitality.
The property features rooms and public spaces with a contemporary feel inspired by the Pacific Northwest’s natural environment, as well as a courtyard with living walls, a “globed” fireplace and an environmentally friendly green roof. The hotel also includes the Gear Shed, stocked with fishing poles, scooters, skateboards, hover boards, digital cameras and more, which guests can borrow. The property also features a vintage vending machine that distributes artwork from local artists.
Portland chef David Machado heads up the hotel’s restaurant Nel Centro, which showcases a horseshoe-shaped bar. The hotel also offers The Colosseum, an interactive venue space for meetings and events, complete with a pool table, life-size Connect Four, table shuffleboard and more.
Pebblebrook’s Unofficial Z Collection hotels include Hotel Zetta San Francisco, Hotel Zelos San Francisco, Hotel Zeppelin San Francisco, Hotel Zephyr Fisherman’s Wharf, Hotel Zoe Fisherman’s Wharf and The Hotel Zags Portland.
