Nobu Hospitality Expands in Spain
Restaurant, hotel planned for Marbella
Nobu Hospitality will debut a restaurant and a hotel at the five-star Puente Romano Beach Resort & Spa in Spain. Slated to launch in May, Nobu Restaurant Marbella will mark the brand’s first outpost in the country and will feature a look by Spanish interior designer Jean-Pierre Martel and Malibu, California-based design/development firm Studio PCH. That design team will also create the interiors for the hotel, whose opening will follow in spring 2018.

Both the restaurant and hotel will occupy existing buildings within the resort following renovations. Project participants say the restaurant’s aesthetic “will balance comfortable simplicity” with natural materials and textures, as well as complement the recently revamped resort’s new contemporary look. A bar and terrace will be set adjacent to the restaurant, which will serve cuisine that fuses Japanese and Peruvian flavors and join the lifestyle resort’s 10 existing restaurants.
Meanwhile, the new hotel will overlook Puente Romano's dining and nightlife hub, Plaza Village, and will feature a private pool. Further details regarding that component’s design will be released later this spring, according to Nobu.
“Nobu Hotel Marbella will drive an experience balancing fun and luxury to create an enthralling destination in-keeping with the interests and needs of our global Nobu customer,” says Trevor Horwell, chief executive of Nobu Hospitality.
The launch of the new hotel will mark Puente Romano Beach Resort & Spa’s transformation into an all-suites resort. That property’s 184 recently refurbished suites, which span across 27 Andalusian villas, also offer access to the resort's Six Senses Spa.
Nobu Hospitality—whose backers include actor Robert DeNiro, Hollywood film producer Meir Teper and celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa—also plans to open another hotel in Spain, on the island of Ibiza, this June.
