Montage, Pendry Hotels Set for Coachella Valley
Gensler spearheads design for California development
Montage Intl. and The Robert Green Co. have inked a deal to develop the SilverRock Resort in La Quinta, California. Slated to break ground this summer and open in late 2019, the dual-branded project will include Montage and Pendry hotels, as well as residences under both flags. Gensler has been tapped to design the two properties, which project participants say will showcase a mid-century modern aesthetic that reflects their Coachella Valley locale.
This project marks the first joint development venture for Montage, incorporating both of the hotelier’s brands. Plans for Montage La Quinta include about 140 guest rooms, a Spa Montage and fitness center, three F&B outlets, a recreation center, a resort-style pool, retail boutiques and the brand's Paintbox children's program, as well as 29 four- and five-bedroom Montage Residences. Pendry La Quinta, meantime, will house about 200 accommodations, three restaurants and bars, a fitness center, a pool and more retail venues. Also on tap are 66 two- and three-bedroom branded residences.

The center of the community features an 18-hole Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course, which will be updated as part of the project. The resort will also encompass a catering and conference facility and a mixed-use village.
“Having worked in the Coachella Valley early in my career, it is especially exciting to return with a dynamic development that is ideally suited for our Montage and Pendry brands,” says Alan Fuerstman, founder, chairman and ceo of Orange Country, California-based Montage Intl. “With The Robert Green Co., we will be bringing to the city of La Quinta an amazing resort unlike anything else in the desert. The architecture, design, amenities and most importantly, the extraordinary service that is the hallmark of Montage Intl., should be a perfect fit for the community.”
“There has never been a resort of this caliber in the desert and nothing of this scale developed in the desert in decades,” adds Robert Green Jr., president and ceo of The Robert Green Co., an Encinitas, California-based real estate developer. “We look forward to bringing a new level of luxury to this destination.”
Founded in 2002, Montage Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio currently includes Montage Laguna Beach, Montage Beverly Hills, Montage Deer Valley, Montage Kapalua Bay, Montage Palmetto Bluff and Montage Los Cabos, which is scheduled to debut next year. Pendry Hotels launched in 2014 and includes two luxury properties: the recently opened Pendry San Diego and the soon-to-debut Sagamore Pendry Baltimore. Montage Intl. also manages and operates Spanish Peaks Mountain Club in Big Sky, Montana, and The May River Golf Club in Bluffton, South Carolina.
