Max Brown Heads to Vienna
140-room hotel’s design nods to its city
Max Brown 7th District has opened in Vienna’s Neubau neighbourhood. The project includes a movie theater as well as Seven North, a restaurant by chef Eyal Shani.
Set in a six-story building, the 140-room hotel’s interiors use plush fabrics, such as velvet, and a nature-inspired color palette. Vintage furniture pieces were sourced from local shops. Attention to detail was key to the interior design, including bespoke patterns in pink tones inspired by Austrian artist Franz West. Guestroom beds are made from recyclable materials. A green backdrop of textured wallpaper is accentuated in the rooms with bursts of color while specially commissioned pieces by local artists Deborah Sengl and Drago Persic adorn the walls.
The newly redecorated façade, painted in neutral tones and featuring timber shutters, is inspired by the old Viennese colors of the Biedermeier architectural style from the 18th century. A second exterior wall features a large-scale, hand-painted mural by Viennese artists Käthe Schönle and Sebastian Schager, with references to historic Austrian figures and modern-day life in the city.
