Dayton to Get New Boutique
Ohio city’s historic Barclay Building to be converted
Miller-Valentine Group has sold Dayton, Ohio’s Barclay Building to First Barclay LLC, a joint project between Columbus-based Lawyers Development Corp. and Chicago-based First Hospitality Group (FHG). The new owners plan to convert the building into a branded boutique hotel.
Construction on the 10-story, 60,000-sq.-ft. tower that dates back to 1927 will begin in about 12 months. FHG expects the project will cost about $20 million and that the hotel will open in 2020. The redeveloped property will showcase a restaurant and bar, and the design is expected to embrace the city’s aviation and engineering history.
Lawyers Development and FHG first partnered for the development of the 149-room Hotel LeVeque, which is part of the mixed-use art deco-era LeVeque Tower in downtown Columbus, Ohio.
