AC Martin and Wilson Associates design luxury hotel in LA skyscraper
The high-rise InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown hotel is now open. Housed in the upper half of the 73-story Wilshire Grand Center tower in downtown LA, the new InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) property was designed by AC Martin and Wilson Associates.

The hotel, which was the site of the BDwest Design Tour earlier this year, features 899 guest rooms that stretch from the tower’s 31st floor up to a sky lobby on the 70th floor. Its 109 suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows, with the 2,500 sq. ft. presidential suite offering a lounge area, dining room, piano, kitchenette, walk-in closets and a soaking tub.

The hotel’s five dining options are: Dekkadance, serving Neopolitan pizza, and Sora, a Japanese restaurant with a sushi conveyor belt, both on the 69th floor; the Lobby Vodka Bar and Lounge on the 70th floor; La Boucherie, a 71st floor steakhouse; and the 73rd floor’s open-air bar, Spire 73, which includes lounge areas with fire pits and fountains. The IHG property also offers 95,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space.
“This is a historic moment for the InterContinental brand, as we open the largest hotel in the Americas region and redefine the Los Angeles skyline, brought to life through our partnership with Korean Air and Hanjin International Corp. on this new marquee hotel,” says Elie Maalouf, ceo of IHG, The Americas.
