HYDE HOTEL HEADS TO MIAMI
Arquitectonica and Rockwell Group led the design
Develor The Related Group, sbe, and Haim Yehezkel, ceo of Elysee investments, partnered to bring the HYDE Hotel & Residences Midtown Miami to the city. It’s the third collaboration from sbe founder Sam Nazarian and Related founder and chairman Jorge Pérez, who have more than 20 projects in the works, including the recently-opened SLS LUX Brickell.
Arquitectonica led the design for the 32-story, 410-condo project, which also includes 60 hotel rooms. The Rockwell Group spearheaded the design for the lobby, hotel suites, and amenity spaces, bringing together modern art with local elements.
Rockwell used custom fixtures and furniture against a neutral color palette with hints of bright colors, concrete tile floors, blackened metalwork, and walls with bespoke mesh and steel. Artwork from Pérez’s personal collection can be found in the public spaces. An RGB light-sensitive piece hung from the lobby’s exposed concrete ceiling pays homage to Miami’s Art Deco architecture.
The property also includes an infinity pool, an outdoor bar and restaurant, tennis and bocce courts, and a putting green. Greenery, vines, and garden beds with succulents frame the metal pergolas that line the pool area, and the outdoor bar’s blackened steel canopy contrasts a teak wood bar top with 3-D blue glazed Portuguese tile.
The project is the second HYDE property to open in South Florida, following the completion of the HYDE Hollywood Resort & Residences last year. The HYDE Beach House in Hollywood is slated to open next year, and sbe plans to more than double its hotel portfolio to 50 hotels and residences by 2021.
