Hotel Retlaw Undergoing Reno
Legendary Hotels’ inaugural property being updated by Guru of Luxury
Wisconsin’s historic Hotel Retlaw is set to reopen this fall, following a $25 million renovation spearheaded by Guru of Luxury, an interior design/consulting firm based in Miami Beach. The 1920s-era hotel in Fond du Lac is the first property being developed by the newly formed Legendary Hotels, a hospitality management/development company founded by Dennis Doucette and Steve Frantz that will specialize in distinctive boutique properties. The architect of record for the project is Kahler Slater of Milwaukee.
Upgrades to the 127-key boutique hotel will include a farm-to-table restaurant, an espresso café and wine bar, a refurbished pool, a spa and a ballroom.
"Hotel Retlaw came on the scene during an era of incredible social, artistic, and cultural excitement,” says Yvonne Roberts, principal of Guru of Luxury and creative director for hotel. “We are looking forward to bringing this iconic treasure in central Wisconsin back to life while infusing it with contemporary luxury." Roberts’ credits include creating the Biltmore-Miami's Cellar Club, and she has more than two decades’ experience as an interior design and hospitality consultant.
Doucette, a principal-partner at the newly created Legendary Hotels, adds: "We are creating a unique and breathtaking environment that will attract world-class travelers and serve as a premiere social center.” Doucette previously worked on the revitalization of the Biltmore-Miami, while Frantz is longtime sales executive at Benchmark Resorts & Hotels.
