THREE-SUITE BOUTIQUE OPENS IN CHICAGO
Designed by owners with a Scandinavian feel
Chicago has its newest—and perhaps smallest—boutique hotel in Lincoln Park. The Hotel Pikku features only three suites, and its conception and design were handled by husband and wife team Chelsy Whittington and Andy Matson.
Each of the three suites feature a living room, bedroom, a bathroom and a focal piece of artwork commissioned from Matson’s aunt, Patricia Canelake. Two rooms have a kitchen. Bathrooms showcase star light fixtures and penny tile. Interiors for the guestrooms are vintage with a Scandinavian feel—after all, “pikku” is Finnish for little.
The owners originally purchased the building for $120,000 and have since invested $280,000 into converting the space to hotel suites.
