JAL City Expands in Tokyo
NOMURA to lead hotel's interior design
Okura Nikko Hotel Management Co. Ltd. plans to debut Hotel JAL City Tokyo Toyosu in 2019. The property will occupy the upper level of D Tower Toyosu, a 296,000-sq.-ft. mixed-use facility that includes an athlete training center.
K.ITO Architects & Engineers Inc. will handle the architecture, while NOMURA Co. Ltd. will spearhead the hotel's interior design. Daiwa House Industry Co. Ltd. was contracted for asset and project management services.
Project participants say the 330-room hotel will be designed with sports demand in mind, as it will be located between one of the Tokyo 2020 Athletes’ Villages and Olympic and Paralympic venues. Guestrooms will integrate an organic theme with a Japanese aesthetic. The hotel will use 128,833 sq. ft. of the facility’s space. The lobby will be situated on the first floor, and guestrooms will comprise floors six through 16.
The property will join three other Hotel JAL City locations in the Kanto/Tokyo area and will be the third to operate under the brand's new concept following Hotel JAL City Nagoya Nishiki and Hotel JAL City Sapporo Nakajima Park.
Okura Nikko Hotel Management, a subsidiary of Japan's Hotel Okura Co. Ltd., operates 72 properties under the Okura Hotels & Resorts, Nikko Hotels Intl. and Hotel JAL City brands.
