Gold Mantis Buys Majority Stake in HBA
High-end Chinese contractor invests $75M in design firm
Gold Mantis Construction Decoration Co. Ltd., a high-end interiors contracting company based in Suzhou, China, has bought a majority stake in HBA, one of the world’s largest interior design firms. HBA said Golden Mantis has invested $75 million in the Los Angeles-based firm.
In a statement, HBA said Gold Mantis’ investment will enable the design firm “to achieve new levels of growth and provide unmatched service to its clients by providing more vertical and integrated services. This will also support HBA’s vertical brands and integrated services by fostering growth into new and undergoing initiatives, such as architecture, art procurement, lighting design and consulting, branding and graphics.”
HBA—whose designers recently won two major categories in the latest Boutique Design Awards (for best spa and best hotel)—said the company will continue to be led by the same team of partners, directors, and associates that have been managing the firm for years, and that it will continue to be headquartered in Los Angeles, with 15 global offices.
Gold Mantis is one of the world's largest high-end contracting companies; its projects include the Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium in Beijing, Four Seasons Beijing, the National Museum of China and the China Hall of Congress in Beijing.
