Club Med Plans Caribbean Resort
Development to feature four boutique villages
Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda is the brand's largest project of its type in the Caribbean in the past 40 years. The property is also the first full Exclusive Collection resort in the Americas, and will be the new flagship of the line in the region.
Club Med first announced the resort in May, and the development will introduce a new concept to the brand: four boutique villages named Archipelago, Caribbean Paradise, Emerald Jungle and Explorer Cove. Each will have its own unique environment, activities and accommodations.
Archipelago presents a stylish oceanfront getaway that will cater exclusively to adults. Caribbean Paradise will act as the heart of the resort and feature festive colors and a Dominican Republic vibe. Emerald Jungle will offer an eco-conscious oasis that focuses on wellness and provides a way for guests to disconnect from the stressors of fast-paced daily life by connecting with the lush greenery of the area. Designed for families, Explorer Cove will be home to activities for both children and adults .
“Eco-chic” is the vibe the Club Med team says it's striving for at the resort. Prior to construction, the company collaborated with local government agencies to conduct an environmental impact study on the plans to make sure to protect the beauty of Miches and its natural state. Club Med has created a tree replanting program whereby every tree removed for the development’s foundation will be replanted around the resort. Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda is set to open in December 2019.
