Choctaw to Expand Resort
Durant, Oklahoma development to house a new 1,000-room hotel
Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma continues to develop its resort in Durant with its fourth expansion project since the casino opened in 2006. Tutor Perini Building Corp. will act as the design-builder, while JCJ Architecture and Friedmutter Group are the design partners.
Developed by TynanGroup LLC, the project will increase room capacity with a new-construction 1,000-key hotel. New restaurants, a lounge bar, movie theaters, a conference center, casino expansion, retail space, resort-style pools and a new parking garage will round out the expanded complex.
Groundbreaking will take place in late spring of 2019, and work is expected to take about two years to complete. The original Choctaw Casino comprised more than 100,000 sq. ft. In 2010, the tribe added the Grand Tower. Another hotel tower with a spa was added in 2015, along with The Grand Theater and the family entertainment center, The District.
