Cachet Boutique to Debut in NY
Ex-OUT Hotel to also house Playboy Club
Cachet Hospitality Group (CHG) has unveiled plans to open the first Cachet Boutique hotel in the U.S. this spring. New York owner/developer Merchants Hospitality Inc. has signed a deal with the Hong Kong-based hotelier to manage the 107-key property in midtown Manhattan following a conversion of The OUT Hotel. CHG’s in-house studio, Cachet Interior Design, is spearheading the locale’s renovations.
“The Cachet brand is a perfect fit for this location,” says Abraham Merchant, ceo of Merchants Hospitality Inc. “The city's hospitality market is incredibly competitive, but with Cachet's profitable programming, mix of modern design, cutting-edge dining, entertainment concepts and technology platform, we're confident that our property will be successful.”
Marking the brand’s third property in the Americas, the hotel will feature an outdoor wellness area known as the Wet Lawn and a signature farm-to-table restaurant, as well as a 2,000-sq.-ft., indoor-outdoor wine terrace for private events.
It will also be home to the city’s first Playboy Club in more than 30 years.
Merchants and CHG are teaming with Playboy Enterprises on that concept, which will reference the media/lifestyle company’s history with a sexy vibe, project participants say. Plans for the venue include a lounge area, a game room and a dining room serviced by Playboy Bunny hostesses, waitresses and cocktail servers.
“The reintroduction of the Playboy Club to New York is a huge milestone for us as we continue to reinvent our brand for new audiences all around the world,” says Valerie Golson, Playboy's vice president of gaming and location based entertainment. “We are so happy to be teaming with Cachet both here in the U.S. and in China, where we are excited to open the highly anticipated Playboy Club Shanghai this March.”
In addition to upcoming clubs in New York and throughout Asia, Playboy and Cachet say they plan to partner on additional lounges, restaurants and nightclubs. Playboy’s venue portfolio also includes clubs in London, Hanoi, Hyderabad, New Delhi and Mumbai, as well as a beer garden in Pune, India, and a cafe in Bangkok.
