&Beyond Reveals Expansion Plans
Outdoor adventure company to debut first property in Chile, revamp existing destinations
Luxury experiential travel and safari company &Beyond is set to open its first lodge outside of Africa, &Beyond Vira Vira. Slated to debut in Chile’s Lake District on Sept. 1, the property is designed to cater to adventure-enthusiasts and will feature a farm-to-table restaurant with al fresco dining along the Liucura river.
In addition to the new destination in Chile, the Johannesburg, South Africa-based lodge, camp and tour operator—which has offerings throughout Africa, Asia and South America—has recently reopened or plans to reopen the following outposts:
&Beyond Bateleur Camp
This location reopened on Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve in March after a complete refurbishment. The lodge added a new massage sala, fitness center, coffee and gin bar, family suite, safari shop and swimming pool.
&Beyond Phinda Vlei
In South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province, this six-suite lodge reopened earlier this month following an update. Project participants say the property’s new look is inspired by the plantation-style homesteads of KwaZulu-Natal’s sugar cane and pineapple barons.
This homestead property is expected to reopen Sept. 1 in South Africa following renovations. The sole-use villa offers travelers a private safari experience.
In 1991, &Beyond (then called Conservation Corporation Africa or CC Africa) began developing and sustaining wildlife sanctuaries in Africa in response to an increased demand for ecotourism and wildlife experiences. Now the company’s portfolio spans three continents, including offerings in Kenya, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Argentina, Peru and Ecuador.
