ANGAD ARTS HOTEL TO DEBUT IN ST. LOUIS
Guestroom colors based on art commissioned from local artists
The 146-room Angad Arts Hotel, which was developed by St. Louis-based Steve Smith, cofounder and ceo, Lawrence Group and London-based investor Lord Swarj Paul, will open this November in The Grand Center Arts District of St. Louis with F&B operated by ESquared Hospitality. Lawrence Group is responsible for the design in collaboration with David Miskit, the hotel's executive managing director. Guests can book rooms based on color and emotion: green for rejuvenation, yellow for happiness, red for passion and blue for tranquility. The colors are based on commissioned work from different artists, whose art will adorn their respective rooms. The hotel offers suites and extended stay accommodations with kitchenettes.
The hotel’s exterior and public spaces will also imbue the arts. A “firescape” installation will showcase climbing silhouette figures that scale the property’s façade, while a 360-degree video art installation welcomes guests as they step off elevators to the 12th-floor sky lobby. Elevators will also display rotating video installations curated by the hotel’s director of video art Zlatko Cosic and commissioned from local artists.
Reuben Reuel, St. Louis-based fashion designer and creator of the womenswear brand Demestik, will create uniforms for the hotel staff showcasing his signature wit, bold prints and sharp cuts. Chef David Burke will captain the food and beverage operation via the Grand Tavern, marking his St. Louis debut.
