Work has started on the seven-story Westin Anaheim Resort. The 613-key representative of the Marriott upscale brand is being built on a site formerly occupied by the Anabella Hotel in Anaheim, Calif., the Orange County Register reports.
The new resort’s design team includes Michael Hong Architects, Dianna Wong Architecture & Interior Design and Lifescapes Intl. The project, being developed by Wincome Group, is slated for completion in 2019.
Accommodations at the $245 million development will include 101 suites, three restaurants, a pool, rooftop lounge and 11 meeting rooms. The rooftop lounge will include banquette seating and fire pits with portable shade structures.
The project will be the 18th Westin in California and the chain’s first build in Southern California in 25 years, Noah Silverman, Marriott’s chief development officer, said in a statement reported by the Register. The new Westin will also be the second upscale Marriott brand to be built in the Anaheim resort district, Silverman noted. (The other is a JW Marriott.)
