Nine Marriott properties owned and managed by Columbia Sussex are undergoing major refreshes. As part of that overhaul, the Crestview Hills, Kentucky-based hotel company’s in-house design team, led by design director Tanja Wick, recently completed a $10 million dollar renovation on the Melville Marriott Long Island. Project participants say the property’s updated look integrates new Marriott brand standards focusing on architectural aesthetic, location and fresh design.
The color palette in the hotel’s 371 guestrooms takes inspiration from Long Island vineyards, the sea, and the locale’s beaches and parks. Guestrooms make use of dark woods, brushed metal and caramel leather to balance a professional and leisurely vibe. Modern murals and furniture further reflect Marriott’s new look.
The full-service property also includes more than 19,000 sq. ft. of meeting space with 19 event rooms, a newly renovated 10,000-sq.-ft. ballroom, three board rooms, executive conference rooms and a lobby-level Greatroom. The Greatroom is home to banquette seating, a bistro, library, bar and private room. A 6,000 sq. ft. lobby-level atrium can accommodate up to 500 guests.
