Downtown LA’s mega-development ROW DTLA has a new upscale Japanese restaurant, Hayato, from chef Brandon Go, offering an intimate, up-close dining experience. Up until opening, the then under-construction eatery has been serving takeoutBento boxes for lunch.

Go says that the restaurant has been designed so that visitors feel as if they are coming into someone’s home for the evening. Guests are served traditional Japanese cuisine called “Washoku,” served by chefs at one of eight counters that offer single seating in front of an open kitchen. If patrons prefer privacy, single tables in a tatami seating area are available.

The restaurant joins 14 other food and beverage outlets at ROW DTLA, which is on the site of the former LA Terminal Market. So named for the rows of buildings that line the area, the development comprises six buildings, and includes 100 unique stores and 1.3 million sq. ft. of creative office space.
