Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has opened the Kimpton Hotel Fontenot, a 202-room boutique property located in the heart of New Orleans’ central business district. The opening marks the brand’s return after a 15-year absence from the city.
The Kimpton Hotel Fontenot’s interiors, designed by MARKZEFF, are inspired by the city’s iconic southern hospitality and famed jazz musicians, as well as the building’s original architectural details. The lobby features a variety of custom art, including a butterfly installation by sculptor Paul Villinski and a 7-foot trombone installation honoring New Orleans’ musical roots. Guestrooms feature a clean and modern design aesthetic with soft accents of French blue and pink.
The hotel also introduces two signature dining and cocktail concepts led by Executive Chef Chris Lusk and Bar Director Steve Yamada. The Peacock Room is an energetic and elevated lounge featuring turquoise lacquered paneled walls, gold cove ceilings, mosaic tiled floors, and eccentric furnishings. Steps away is the Gospel Coffee and Boozy Treats, a lively corner café.
