Boutique Design Events and Trade Fairs

Hyatt Hotels Corp. has opened the first Hyatt Regency in the capital of China. The 348-key luxury hotel’s biophilic design was spearheaded by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, who was featured on the cover of the June 2017 edition of Boutique Design.

Situated in Beijing’s Wangjing Central Business District, the hotel’s architecture is inspired by the Chinese Sanhe Yuan, a three-sided, courtyard-style home with a garden. Kengo Kuma’s urban forest concept also emphasizes natural materials. The lobby space is decked out with oak louvers underneath a large glass skylight and features natural travertine, marble, granite, oak and walnut throughout. Guestrooms showcase oak wood, beige and green marble, and wood-grain patterned carpet.

Hyatt Regency Beijing Wangjing includes five F&B options, two of which are currently open: The Lounge and the indoor garden at Market Café. Later this year, the property will debut Cang Yue, an authentic Chinese dining concept; the Izakaya-style Shunpachi Japanese restaurant; and The Music Bar nightlife venue.

The property is also home to 60,277 sq. ft. of creative spaces designed for conferences and social events, including the 14,746-sq.-ft. Regency Ballroom.
