Boutique Design Events and Trade Fairs

The Andaz flag is now flying in Southeast Asia. Hyatt Hotels Corp. has opened Andaz Singapore, the lifestyle brand’s first property in that region. The hotel is housed within DUO, a pair of concave skyscrapers designed by German architect Ole Scheeren that that are clad in latticework and feature hexagonal windows.

The latest Andaz—the brand’s 17th locale—houses 342 guest rooms, including 26 suites, with floor-to-ceiling windows. Taking cues from the hotel’s neighborhood, interior designer Andre Fu of AFSO created multi-layered “alleyways” within the building and incorporated locally inspired furniture, art and fabric into the hotel’s design. Artworks showcased in the space including color-saturated pieces by Brazilian sculptor André Mendes and pieces by local artist Ahmad Abu Bakar, New York-based Filipina artist Monica Delgado and Malaysian artist Fauzulyusri Mohd Yusof.

The hotel’s F&B offerings include Alley on 25, which provides Singapore street dining in the form of seven “shop houses” on one floor: Smoke & Pepper; Auntie’s Wok & Steam; Icehaus; 665°F; and Mr. Stork, a rooftop bar offering teepee-hut seating and an observatory corner.

Alley on 3, the property’s 14,800-sq.-ft. events alleyway, features four residential-style event spaces including The Glasshouse, a “glass-box” venue; Garden Studio, which has an adjoining outdoor terrace; and two studios available for smaller gatherings.
