DesignAgency continues its collaborative relationship with Momofuku to create two new venues in New York’s Hudson Yards dining hub. Kāwi is a restaurant inspired by Executive Chef Eunjo “Jo” Park’s fine dining expertise, her time spent cooking in Korea, and her years working closely with Momofuku chef and founder David Chang. Adjacent, Peach Mart is a takeaway shop inspired by Asian convenience stores.
The host building’s massive structural joists divide the bar area from the main dining room, which includes an open kitchen framed by a chef’s table that offers guests views of food preparation. These angled columns inspired the bar’s geometrical millwork and its triangular patterned wood trellis ceiling. The palette includes stained oak with satin brass, black metal and textured glass detailing, green glazed tiles, and touches of red leather and floral printed wallpaper.
Nestled into Kāwi’s facade, Peach Mart is sat within a compact space and clad with a palette of marble and tile with brass accents and a simple orange pegboard (a nod to Momofuku’s signature “lucky peach”) form the backdrop of packaged goods and fresh grab and go snacks from around the world.
