Fortuna Realty Group has opened the Hotel Hendricks, a new addition to its collection of Manhattan hotels that also includes Hotel Hugo, Hotel Henri and Hotel Hayden.
Located in New York’s Garment District, the 176-room hotel features interiors by LA-based designer Marcello Pozzi of Marcello Pozzi Architecture & Design. The project also includes Latin-inspired restaurant Paloma at Hotel Hendricks, helmed by chef PJ Calapa, and two rooftop bar concepts.
Set against a backdrop of concrete and exposed ceilings, the hotel’s design features a number of signature elements that can be found throughout the property, including copper appointments, mahogany wood, live cherry blossoms and various animal prints. The juxtaposition of these embellishments set against an industrial backdrop exudes opulence while maintaining a modern feel.
As guests enter through the front doors, which will often remain open (weather permitting) to evoke an open-air lobby, they pass under a concrete awning. Carved into the bottom are two copper domes: one is a cone-shaped skylight, intended to bring in the positive energy from the sun, while the other is a solid dome to trap the energy and keep it radiating around the entryway. The front desk is on the right and the restaurant’s bar on the left, a layout that intended to create a synergy between the bar and the reception desk.
