Boutique Design Events and Trade Fairs

Designer and artistic director Philippe Renaud was at the helm of the aesthetic for The Hôtel de Berri, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Paris, which recently opened its doors in partnership with owners the Dokhan family and Marriott Intl.

The hotel features 75 guestrooms, Italian restaurant Le Schiap and cocktail bar Le Bizazz. Hôtel de Berri draws inspiration from the French Decorative Arts period including famed painters, designers and stylists such as Salvador Dalí. Interiors reflect the “Art de Vivre” ethos made famous in Paris. Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, the property was a private mansion for luminaries including Princess Mathilde. Renaud channeled that history into the design of Hôtel de Berri’s guestrooms and public spaces.

Following the demolition of the property’s private residences, an office building designed by architect and city planner Maurice Novarina was constructed on the site. This bespoke building reveals a Parisian world within. Wisdom, eclecticism and humor are themes in the design of the hotel. The team used lively colors, ancient Chinese furniture, wrought-iron lamps, sketches and paintings to create the overall feel.

The hotel showcases pieces of Parisian art and interior design. Giacometti, Jean-Michel Frank, Madeleine Castaing, Henri Samuel and David Hicks are some of the featured artists. The interiors also include subtle references to fashion designers such as Coco Chanel, Jeanne Lanvin, Marie-Laure de Noailles and Elsa Schiaparelli, who lived at the property for 40 years.
