Ovolo Hotels’ flagship Hong Kong property, Ovolo Central, has completed an extensive renovation and reopened with a new façade, entrances, public spaces, guestrooms and restaurant.
The property’s new façade features a glazed black metal grid that allows for more natural light and ventilation to the hotel’s interiors. Four entrances are now accessible at the hotel, and the lobby showcases a wall adorned with stainless steel eggs. The ground and lower floors are connected by a linear staircase, also allowing daylight to filter in. The first-floor meeting room offers a curated art collection by Hong Kong-based MAKE design group.
The hotel’s 41 guestrooms give off a rock-and-roll vibe complete with commissioned artwork and design accents that nod to the city’s East-meets-West heritage. Monique McIintock Interiors designed the new Platinum guestrooms at the hotel, while ALT-254 led design for the 700-sq.-ft. Radio Suite that spans the entire top floor of the property.
MALE and KplusK Associates designed the city’s first vegetarian hotel restaurant, VEDA. Chef Hetty McKinnon spearheads the eatery.
