Hilton’s first-quarter earnings statement showed a 56 to 58 percent decrease in systemwide RevPAR room for March. Meanwhile, for the company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa hotels, RevPAR was down 62 to 64 percent in March. North and South America RevPAR declined 54 to 56 percent during the same time frame. Hilton’s Asia/Pacific hotels fared the worst, with RevPAR falling 74 to 76 percent in March.
As of the beginning of April, Hilton reports that it has closed 1,000 properties, or 16 percent of its total global hotels.
