The historic Golden Gate Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas has completed an expansion of its casino floor and outdoor bar, along with an update to its facade. Overseeing that work was design firm Dez Motif and MOSER Architecture Studio.
The 111-year old property’s redesigned entry includes 500-pound gold velvet drapes and a marble-floored rotunda inspired by the Jazz Age. The centerpiece of its updated casino, meantime, is a fountain-like tower of TVs that’s 24-ft. tall.
“Golden Gate is an important landmark in Las Vegas’ narrative and it was our responsibility to revere its past,” said ceo and owner Derek Stevens. “So many prominent figures have walked down Fremont Street Experience and into Golden Gate throughout the last century, so we intend to respect and relish its history, while introducing amenities suited for today.”
This is Golden Gate’s second major expansion in recent years under Stevens’ ownership. In 2012, the property added a five-story luxury hotel tower and a new lobby.
