Boutique Design Events and Trade Fairs

Generator Washington D.C., the London-based brand’s second property in the United States, will open this January for guest stays. The hotel’s social spaces and food and beverage outlets will open in the spring. Studio 11 Design collaborated on the hotel’s interiors.

The hotel was converted from a former Courtyard by Marriott, which Generator purchased last year for $52.4 million. The hotel offers 376 beds within 148 rooms. Studio 11 Design’s art consultancy Lou Verne created over 700 pieces of art for the guestrooms with an emphasis on political portraits from the 18th-20th centuries. For example, a portrait of Thomas Jefferson is overlaid with a painting of a woman’s manicured hands clutching a cigarette.
