White Lodging, in partnership with Marriott Intl., is developing a dual-branded boutique property in Austin, Texas. HKS Architects is set to design the building, while Flick Mars will handle the interior aesthetic. The property will comprise 347 rooms—191 rooms at The Otis Hotel, an Autograph Collection hotel, and 156 rooms for the AC Hotel Austin.
Austin’s artists, the city’s music culture and neighboring University of Texas all will blend together to inspire the design of the Otis Hotel. All guest rooms will have record players and visitors we be invited to check out records from the vinyl library located in the lobby. The property will have a 4,000 sq. ft. rooftop deck with pool, cabanas and terrace. A full-service restaurant and bar will be located on the hotel’s first level.
The AC Hotel Austin’s design will fall in line with the vision that founder Antonio Catalan created, with a classic European look that features clean and crisp lines. The hotel will offer a European-inspired breakfast concept at the AC Kitchen and cocktails at the AC Lounge. Another bar will be located on the hotel’s second floor, and AC guests will have access to the Otis restaurant.
The two hotels will share more than 7,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, including a 3,480 sq. ft. ballroom. The property will open during the fourth quarter of next year and joins another property White Lodging has under development in the city in partnership with Marriott. A 613-room Marriott hotel in downtown Austin adjacent to the convention center is also currently under construction and scheduled to open in 2020.
